A prominent track bias can certainly help or hurt a runner’s chances and it certainly didn’t help Mama Cass. The track bias in her last start July 16 was a ‘L2/O2’ one which means a strong late-runners (L2) and a strong outside bias (O2). In her NOTES, Mama Cass dueled inside which means she faced both the bias’ and still held for 2nd albeit a distant one.

Also, this was her best effort of late and it appears she fits well with MCL 8 or $8,000 Maiden-Claimers. While there are not too many races before this to see if there are any track bias today, ‘Cass has a right to move forward off that race should the track be fair or if there is a speed bias.

When you notice a track bias, also look for jockeys who note them as well. You can use them for future reference when you see a jockey ride on the outside of the track even though they are setting the pace on a particular day. They are the ones riding and the knowledgeable ones can help give you clues if there is an inside or outside track bias and maybe you can reevaluate your handicapping to find runners who might benefit from today’s track bias.
