Race 1
2yo MSW 5 1/2 $83k purse

June 19 race at CD may turn out to be one of those "Key Races" we will be talking about months from now. That day, Metal Magic pressed a hot pace and took the lead turning for home, looked to have things well in hand as the 8/5 favorite. Out of nowhere, Twirling Cinnamon burst through horses and displayed a late kick from hell to get a nose down on the wire at 6-1. More about Twirling Cinnamon later(Sanford Stakes).

#6 Metal Magic, 4-1, has come out of that CD race and worked like a demon, getting 5f in 1:00 flat or so on two separate occasions. Eddie Kennally has this one ready to show that natural improvement second out! Corey Lanerie was on for the debut and comes right back. If Metal Magic runs well, wait until the 9th for Twir Cinnamon. The Boyz in Kentucky say this one is very good, and he better be---cause just to his outside is one the Boyz say is really good! #7 Moon King, a $675k John Oxley purchase who Mark Casse has ready to roll in his debut. His works at CD are better than good. As you would expect, TAP has a firster for Stonestreet, a measley $360k purchase who shows serious works at Spa and is a must use.

My recommendation---

#6 Metal Magic, 4-1 w/p and ex and tri key 6---5/7(no angle better than 2nd start)

Race 9
Sanford Stakes GIII $150k purse 2yo 6f

#9 TWIRLING CINNAMON, 10-1

Ark/Ky trainer Brad Cox doesn't ship very often, and certainly not up to the Spa, unless he has a good one. Twir Cinn was bottled up behind a wall of horsed in debut but when he got room he came flying under the Strangler Leparoux. The Boyz say his big work 10 days ago was a thing of beauty, getting 5f in :59.4 Brad Cox has told owner Landers that this is his "Arkansas Derby Horse" $180k Kee yearling purchase, he has really developed and looks like a real overlay at 10-1. He is hooked tough with a couple who have already shown real speed. #7 Payne's Prairie, for the Assman will probably be the fav, but #8 Cocked and Loaded, will also take a lot of money, as he should after his big effort on Belmont day.

Recommended play---EX BX 7--8--9
#9 Twirling Cinnamon w/p/s

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

In total agreement here, but just a quick word about the key race angle...Cocked and Loaded is also coming out of a key race (the Tremont). The second and third-place finishes both came back to win, and the 5th-place finisher came back to run a good second in the Schuylerville yesterday.
