American Pharoah update

Not surprisingly, the colt is a picture of health and happiness: bowed neck, rippling muscles, shiny coat, ears pricked, switching leads on cue, all that good stuff. Barnes said American Pharoah was recently weighed and that he has not lost any weight since he was last put on a scale in Arkansas prior to the Kentucky Derby. The colt’s movements continue to be fluid, and his demeanor is borderline aggressive – although his brilliant mind and professionalism preclude him from disobeying Alvarez and his on-the-ground handlers.[/B

    FB,

In your opinion and others what do yo u think a Triple crown does for the industry? Unfortunately I think it does absolutely nothing. After it is all said and done the same people who go to the track and OTB's will go. Very little new blood will come around to bet horses, when they can sit at a poker table, black jack table, or crap table bet any amount without having to worry about a odds board, drugged or not drugged animals, low percentage take out etc. the casinos are the young people' s brave new world.

i think one thing to consider is if AP wins the triple crown the horse next start probably the haskell or jim dandy check out the attendance and handle figure of the next start (throughout the USA not only at monmouth or saratoga)----the public will follow this horse from to race

the day to day handle will do nothing like you stated.

you have to consider the coverage and how many homes it will be in. I want to see it because I have never seen it before...

I totally disagree, i learned to play conquian at age 4( its a type of mexican rumy / poker game ) ive played 7 card stud for money since i was 9 , i played ,hold em since 05 when the boom happened, i live 15 minutes away from commerce casino , the biggest poker room in the world. I played online , and i learned to play omaha. Ive been around santa anita race track dince 1999 , and now i hate poker. Its boring , i find racing way more interesting, the history , the handicapping , the angles , stories , the math. I really got involved with racing bc of CALI chrome and now i love it...

I don't think it does anything for the horse racing industry, horse racing is on a decline and that will not change. We just have to accept the game as it is and enjoy till the suits run into the the ground worst than it is or all race tracks get slots! People love to press that button! What most don't realize, is that racing takes effort to become better or score. The era we live in now is INSTANT!! We all want everything NOW and you can get that with pressing a button of a SLOT MACHINE!!!

One thing that's kinda stick out to me here in Vegas is the Triple Crown prop. AP is being offered @ -110 to win the Belmont, but it seems kinda obvious that he'll be going off @ 3/5 (or possibly even lower) come post-time.

So, assuming that you can bet into an adjusted price on raceday, you should be able to lay -110 now, then come back and take the other side later @ +120 or thereabouts.

Not even sure it's really worth doing, just thinking aloud.

Was reading yesterday that he another highly-impressive workout @ Churchill this week, similar to the one he had going into the Derby.

One thing bouncing around in my mind as this race approaches is the fact that the Belmont tends to unfold at a very slow pace, and considering AP's high cruising speed, it might be extremely tough for anyone to stay with him once he decides to start picking it up a notch. I don't think this is going to be the type of race where gets into a speed duel and potentially gets softened up early. Quite the opposite. I must say, i like his chances here.

Assistant trainer Jimmy Barnes said today on Capitol OTB TV that American Pharoah weighed 1,178 lbs before the Kentucky Derby and weighed 1,186 recently.

This colt is going to job in the Belmont!! He's gained weight and is coming out of his skin. Also their is a 50% chance of rain and if it's slop just think how many lengths is could be down the lane.

    FB:

Certainly sitting on go and all signs point to a big effort.

I was having a hell of a time trying to beat him prior to defections to start with, now with his positive weight and health sky high, I see him winning as well, the question is by how many lengths.

Churchill Downs clocker John Nichols caught the 3-year-old through 1/8-mile fractions in :13, :25 (:12), :36.60 (:11.60) and
48.60 (:12). After crossing the finish line in :11.60 for his last eighth, American Pharoah continued around the turn and onto the
backstretch in 1:13 (:12.80) for six furlongs, 1:26 (:13) for seven-eighths of a mile and 1:39.60 (:13.60) for the mile.
