At Keeneland on Friday morning, Ron Anderson, the agent for top jockey Garrett Gomez, said he would make a decision on Sunday as to whether Gomez would ride Dunkirk or Pioneerof the Nile in the Derby. Anderson has been able to get extensions from both Bob Baffert, the trainer of Pioneerof the Nile, and Todd Pletcher, trainer of Dunkirk. Pioneerof the Nile, the Santa Anita Derby winner, arrived at Churchill Downs on Thursday after working at Santa Anita on Wednesday. Dunkirk was scheduled to work on Saturday at the Palm Meadows training center in Florida. |

If I were laying down odds I would say this..... Gomez rides Dunkirk............8 to 5 Gomez rides POTN .............10 to 1 * Did you notice they worked POTN a little quickly to get Gomez's attention? |

those odds reminds me of the pay off of the match race between typecast and convenice back in 1972. $5.00 exacta paid $15.00.....it was a win/win...that day for the record....lambert and convenice beat shoemaker and typecast!!!! |
