Tomorrow's the big day. He'll be @ home vs. the Pirates, pretty favorable spot to make your debut. Here's an article from the Nationals' website: MLB.com At Bat | MLB.com: Gameday The Greek is currently listing the Strasburg and the Nats @ -180, while Pinnacle has it @ -181. It'll be interesting to see what the game closes at here in Vegas, my guess is that it might actually go up. Also, Pinnacle has posted several Strasburg props., I've never seen that for a pitcher's MLB debut before. Just shows you how much hype there is surrounding this guy. Here's a link to the prop page: Sports Betting Odds | Sports Betting Lines & Latest Online Wagering Odds

The reason for the price was their scarcity; there are very few of that particular card in existence. Btw, I just saw that Coast Casinos here in Las Vegas has opened Strasburg as a -200 favorite on their overnight line. If I were betting the game (I'm not), I'd be a lot more interested in the First Five Innings line, for obvious reasons. That doesn't come out until tomorrow though.

Strasburg has been totally dominant so far. Through his first 3 innings of work, he's allowed 1 hit, 0 walks, and has recorded 6 strikeouts. WOW.

Rep Power: 18 Thanks: 75 Thanked 195 Times in 164 Posts ![]() ![]() | Just saw this, and i can barely believe it. I knew (or least strongly suspected) that he would pitch well, probably very well, but going 7 innings and striking out 14 in his major league debut is just insane. Perhaps even more amazing is the fact that he walked ZERO batters in 7 innings. Even the most talented, highly-polished kids who get called up to the majors generally have to overcome some control issues at the beginning of their careers (perhaps in part because the umpires are squeezing them a little). This is just one outing, of course, but walking NONE in 7 innings is about the most encouraging thing you could possibly see from the guy. Everyone knows he has the stuff, that's not even an issue. The other thing i'm very surprised at is that he even stayed out there for 7 innings. Looks like he threw 94 pitches; i hadn't heard what kind of pitch count they had him on, but it was generally accepted that he would go 5 or maybe 6 innings, and that was it. It has also been reported that he may not pitch every 5th day; they may give him some extra rest on occasion. So the fact that he went 7 innings in his debut really raises an eyebrow. Very interested to see how many pitches they let him throw in his next couple of starts.

He's outstanding, but he did give up 2 runs which the kid from Colorado has him with an ERA of .78 something like that. But that was an extrodinary outting.

The two runs came on a 2-run homer with two out. Kind of fluky considering he allowed only 4 baserunners over 7 innings. Still an extraordinary effort though, even with the two runs. Ubaldo Jimenez has been pitching like he's from another planet this year. I never thought i'd see the day when a Rockies pitcher put up those kind of numbers. Incidentally, Jimenez has actually posted a lower era in Coors Field than he has on the road, in all three years of 2007, 2008, amd 2009. He does have a higher era at home so far this year, but by "high" i mean somewhere in the 1.00's. He is simply defying logic.

Little bit different outing for Strasburg on Sunday. He still looked great, striking out 8 batters in 5.1 innings and allowing 2 runs while picking up his second win, but this time he walked 5 batters. Big difference from last time. Only 2 hits allowed though, so his whip wasn't too bad with 7 baserunners thru 5.1 innings. He has had things pretty soft in the early going with strats against the Pirates and Indians (which i'm sure was by design), so it'll be interesting to see how he fares against some of the better-hitting clubs. I'm sure he'll be okay though, lol.
