can anyone tell me the factors involved in the starting odds of a horse when they first post the odds. thanks |

The Odds are set by the tracks Oddsmaker so to speak...He sets the Morning Line which you see on the Drf site or Equibase site. Once those Numbers are set the Public start to bet and away they go...Simplified version

Atleast in Chicago the odds on the tracks site (balmoral, arlington, hawthorne, etc) even vary from those in our local newspaper as I think different oddsmakers set different lines (although they are often nearly identical).
