Kantharos worked a slow 5 furlongs this morning, which is fine, but here's the problem: It was his first recorded workout in 21 days. Also, whereas he had previously been working in company with some pretty solid horses, today he worked heads-up with Tristanme, a 2yo filly who was last seen getting clobbered in the Adirondack.

Maybe he worked heads-up with Tristanme to build her confidence back up.

True that, although it was reported by the rider that Kantharos wasn't comfortable over the surface in his Saratoga Special win. Might have been some other issue though, who knows. I just thought he would've been back a little quicker with the Hopeful on tap, but maybe that's why they're taking it easy with him. I don't know.
