Default Smarty Jones Loser/Winner?
I was down on the infield yesterday for the saddling for the 1 mile Stakes with Kentucky Derby points on the line. By now, everybody knows that Lukas got another horse home first, but the horse that ran 3rd is the one to watch.

Always In A Tiz, was bet down to favoritism late. He was an absolute handful getting saddled, and took 3 grooms to hold him down as he was looking like he was going to take a bite out of everything within reach, including the other horses. He looked like a real monster on the track, but the short stretch of the Oaklawn mile race did him no favors. However, his near miss was a mere 3/4, and one jump after the finish he was well ahead of the others and his gallop out was very impressive.

Definitely one to keep an eye on as these prep races get longer!

Sounds like they already won with the name.

John:

After watching the replay, I would concur with everything you stated. He did have a nice gallop out. Certainly one to watch moving forward!!!

JG, It was a play for me that day if you checked the site. Hammered him while sitting with Brett Calhoun on Monday at the FG. Remember the article I posted on the horse racing link about one of Brett's horse check back on Friday as I will have a update and a special treat for you all.

Later!!!

As I went back and watched the replay of the Smarty Jones, it became obvious to me that Tiz was/is the best horse to come out of the race.

Hesitated at the start, which cost him 2-3 lengths. He was behind a wall of horses on the first turn and finally made his way to the 3-4 path for the stretch run.

As I mentioned earlier, his gallop out was very strong. He will love more distance. As we stated, one to certainly keep an eye on moving forward.

Take care!

The reason I was so big on him was the company he had beaten and was running against. Clawback came back that same day to destroy a stakes at the Big A and now the owners have Derby fever and he will run in a route prep next time out. Revolutionary which he beat came back to crush a MSW and is going to be either the top choice or second choice in the upcoming Withers at the Big A as well. We all say what Vyjack did after he ran second to him. I still cannot belive he ran 3rd on Monday. Still pissed!!!!!
