from the Louisville Courier-Journal: Terrain, who finished fourth in Saturday's Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, is off the Kentucky Derby trail and will be pointed toward the Lone Star Derby a week later, trainer Al Stall said today. "The horse is fine," Stall said of the Sky Mesa gelding, who is owned by Adele Dilschneider. "We just feel he's not quite a Derby horse. We got our heads together and thought since he might be a second-tier horse that we'd point to the Lone Star Derby right now." Terrain was third in the Louisiana Derby in his first start at 3, missing second by a head to Papa Clem, who went on to win the Arkansas Derby. He won last year's Arlington-Washington Futurity on a double disqualification, was second in the Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland, a closing fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita and fifth in the Delta Jackpot. At $443,330, he had plenty of graded earnings to make the field if his connections desired. Meanwhile, trainer Chris block said a Derby decision on Illinois Derby runner-up Giant Oak probably won't be made until Monday.
