from Thoroughbred Times: Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) and BlackBerry Preakness Stakes (G1) third-place finisher Musket Man is out for the year with a bone bruise in his left front foot. The Illinois Derby (G2) and Tampa Bay Derby (G3) winner was set to start the Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1) on August 2 at Monmouth Park. “It’s nothing major,” Musket Man’s trainer Derek Ryan said. “We could run him in the Haskell, but that extra kick he gives in the stretch probably won’t be there. It wouldn’t be fair to him. “Instead, he’ll go to the Vinery in Ocala, where he’ll get some rest for this year.” Ryan said the Yonaguska colt will be pointed toward five or six races next year with possible stops in Dubai and the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) at Churchill Downs.
