Default Mi Sueno injured during training
from Daily Racing Form:

Mi Sueno, the top-ranked 2-year-old filly in California, is done for the season and her future racing career is in jeopardy after suffering a condylar fracture of the right cannon bone in a workout Tuesday morning at Hollywood Park.

Trainer Eric Gulliot was crestfallen and said the injury occurred as Mi Sueno galloped out following an easy half-mile workout under jockey Michael Baze.

"She was going so easy; it happened galloping out," Guillot said. "You could see by the time she got back to the barn that something was going on."

The injury to Mi Sueno is not considered life threatening, and Guillot said a decision regarding her future has not been made.

"Bones can heal, it depends on how much cartilage damage there is," he said. "She's worth so much as a broodmare."

Purchased as a weanling for $1.7 million, Mi Sueno is by Pulpit and was the first foal produced by millionaire Grade 1 winner Madcap Escapade. Mi Sueno was training toward Sunday's Grade 1 Oak Leaf Stakes, a 1 1/16-mile race at Santa Anita in which Mi Sueno would have been among the favorites after stamping herself as something special this summer.

Mi Sueno finished second in two maiden races at Hollywood in spring and then exploded in her third career start at Del Mar in the Grade 3 Sorrento Stakes on Aug. 7. Mi Sueno drew off by 6 1/2 lengths in the 6 1/2-furlong race, earning a 90 Beyer Speed Figure and emerging as the West Coast division leader.

Mi Sueno's fourth career start was less impressive, although it resulted in a Grade 1 win. Seemingly beaten into the stretch of the seven-furlong Del Mar Debutante, she gutted it out for a one-length victory with a 77 Beyer.

The summer campaign made her an early favorite for the Oak Leaf Stakes and a leading contender for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. Mi Sueno is owned by Michael Moreno's Southern Equine Stable.
