Icon13 Good News after spill today at Keeneland
Jockey John Velazquez was able to move his extremities and remained conscious following a serious spill during the seventh race at Keeneland Oct. 3. He was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital for evaluation.

Velazquez was involved in a two-horse spill that occured at the top of the stretch in a maiden special weight. The accident apparently was caused when Whacka Whack, ridden by Jamie Theriot, clipped heels with the horse in front of him and went down. As he fell he took Tap Dancing and Velazquez down, too.

Velazquez lay motionless on the track following the accident before being taken off on a stretcher. Theriot walked away from the scene of the accident, and both horses also walked away.

Good to hear. That looked much worse. Speedy recovery wishes for JV.
