Default Goldikova confirmed for BC Mile
from Sporting Life:

Freddie Head has declared that Goldikova will return to Santa Anita on November 7 to defend her crown in the Breeders' Cup Mile.

The six-times Group One-winning filly scorched home under the Californian sun last year, but her participation for this year's event came under question when she was beaten in France over the weekend.

Olivier Peslier's mount was overhauled late on in the Prix de la Foret and finished third, but has bounced out of Longchamp in good order and will bid to justify favouritism in the States next month.

Head said: "She is fine and has come out of the race well.

"We have checked her over and nothing is wrong - she is fine.

"It was a bad race as she was drawn out wide and had to use a lot of energy to get to the front.

"She was pushed wide at one point and Peslier had to chose whether to go on or pull her back. He decided to go on and that may have been the wrong decision.

"She is well and I think that she will go to America."
