Interesting, but i don't see any way this could happen. Besides, i think Baffert has the right idea with the Sunland Derby. Good spot to stretch The Factor out to 1 1/8 miles over a speed-favoring track, with softer competition and a very large purse to boot.

If he runs big, they could could go ahead and send him to Churchill for the Derby. No reason not to try it. Can't say i'm real big on The Factor's chance of getting the 1 1/4 miles, but at least give the horse a chance to prove himself around two turns before making any rash decisions. The Derby only comes around once. If the horse lacked talent, that would be one thing, but we all know that's not the case.

Btw, what's this about running Flashpoint in the 7-furlong Swale, and then making his two-turn debut in the Derby???? That's insane.
