absolutely will effect his chances for the belmont, the longest race out of the 3 triple crown races ,it,s a bad sign for brownie since he,s had feet trouble before and now this, his training regimine is screwed up because he can,t train for a few days an thats huge.......................he,s a great horse but I have my doubts now, keep my ears open and see if they can straighten him out later |

Big Brown doesnt have the best feet in the world, as shown in the preakness they had a lot of info reguarding his shoes, special as they are, and then dutrow came out after the race and said that big brown still banged up his feet, and he said he would add cushion to protect his feet during the belmont, but the quater crack is "slight" so as long as they arent bad I dont think it will comprise him, he will miss workouts this week, but if you see him not working out mid next week then it might be a little more serious..... If i am recalling correctly, a quater crack is in the hoof of the horse, and i think the biggest threat of the quater crack is infection, as long as it is treated and taken care of with no infection should be ok, but before big brown had a month to recover, this time only 2 weeks. Dutrow has been upfront so far with this one, so we will see what he says next week

Hard to say. Ordinarily i would say that any missed prior to a 1 1/2-mile stakes race would have to be a big deal. But it's hard to imagine Big Brown isn't fit after running in a couple of 10-furlong races over the last month. Whether the foot itself might affect him during the actual running of the race, there's just no way of telling right now. I will point out that any word you hear from Dutrow (or anyone else connected with Big Brown) is going to be downplaying the severity of the situation, regardless of how big a problem it is. Any talk of it being a major factor (from those guys) would only come after the race; particularly so if he loses.

I have said before Big brown is the best horse i have seen since 1979. If you go back to 1979. There was a horse that had won both the derby and preakness easily and had a safety pin stuck in it's hoof on the day of theBelmont race and ended up 3rd to the winner of the the Peter pan ...This is Deva vu all over again Big Brown comes in 3rd !!!! You can put it on the board !!!!!!!!!! YES |

I agree that his trainer won't let him run if injury will effect his race or threaten him in any way. If vet and trainer says hes ok, you get your triple crown winner. |
