NO CHANCE ! I actually live in town . Seems that the humidity is not as oppressive as it was yesterday. The weathermen are actually calling for the humidity to break toward the end of the day

Question: With this heat, do you throw out horses coming off a layofff? Won't there stamina be sapped early?

IMO, it just depends on the condition of the horse. I used to always throw out a layoff horse until I got burned so many times I started taking a good look at works, and especially stamina works, i.e. long but slow. Now adays most trainers are not going the long works but are using simulated race conditions as works, the reason being more to do with physical than cardio. The big outfits are using swimming exercise pools to work the cardio, and if you have one of these coming back you can bet that they have the horse fit.
